Norbert De La Cruz III

Born in Bayombong, Philippines, and raised in Los Angeles, Norbert De La Cruz III is a versatile dance artist known for his work in both classical and contemporary dance. A graduate of The Juilliard School (BFA) and Hollins University (MFA), he is based in New York and Los Angeles. His training with institutions like The Juilliard School, the Gabriella Foundation, Marat Daukayev School of Ballet, and LA County High School for the Arts shaped his distinctive physicality.

 

Professionally, Norbert has performed with prestigious companies such as the Metropolitan Opera House, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Balletto Teatro di Torino. He has also been featured in Warner Brothers’ *In The Heights*. Notable early achievements include the Spotlight Award and representing Juilliard at the Dizzy Feet Foundation Gala.

 

Norbert’s choreographic career took off under the mentorship of Tom Mossbrucker and Jean-Philippe Malaty at Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. His commissions include works for Ballet X, Hubbard Street 2, Richmond Ballet, Tulsa Ballet II, Bruce Wood Dance, New York City Ballet, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Golden State Ballet and much more. He has been awarded grants and honors from the Jerome Robbins Foundation, Princess Grace Foundation, and was featured in *Dance Magazine’s* “Top 25 to Watch.”

 

As an educator, Norbert has taught at Juilliard, SUNY Purchase, Princeton, and internationally at the International Ballet School in Poland. He currently serves as a Visiting Assistant professor at Point Park University.  His work explores themes of identity, queerness, imperfection, and representation, striving to create meaningful art that reflects the human experience.
